The Best of Fashion Month 2014 Part II

Hello Loves!
I hope you have all been well :) Today I post the long overdue continuation on the 2014-15 trend report which was started here. Enjoy!

11. Wings of Desire

Romantic, decadent and dreamy feather silhouettes graced the catwalk in the fall/winter shows of 2014-15. The trend was described as follows by Vogue: "From baby's breath maribou and dainty ostrich fronds to shimmering jewel-toned peacock, few adornments can match these sartorial flights of fancy." Oscar de la Renta, Jason Wu, Proenza Schouler, Gucci, Dries Van Noten, Erdem, Nina Ricci, Vivienne Westwood, Alexander McQueen and Louis Vuitton all showcased this trend in their shows.

12. Furs

From the wild eccentric fur coats to calm soft and composed ones; fur was seen to be a major trend in the autumn/winter shows of 2014-15. Houses such as Fendi, Versace, Alexander mcQueen, Alexandre Vauthier, Chloe, Pucci amongst others were seen showcasing fur designs in their shows.

13. Optical Monochrome

Black and white optical monochromes were trending in fall winter 2014/15 shows as designers presented intricately geometric patterns, Roschach-style motifs and trompe l'œil effects. Optical illusions and hypnotic images were the trends seen at Balmain, Bottega Veneta, Dries van Noten, Giambattista Valli, Maiyet and Creatures of the Wind.

14. Poncho

The Poncho was amongst the main garments in the Burberry, Etro and Roberto Cavalli shows. Tomy Hilfiger, Barbara Bui and Alexis Mabille also showcased the same trend in their catwalks.

15. Velvet

The velvet staple made its comeback with its shimmering silky effect greatly being showcased this season; the fabric giving a soft halo effect of the light falling on it on the runway. This created an androgynous and 60s inspired silhouette as shown in houses such as Nina Ricci, Tom Ford, Chanel, Etro, Fendi and Emporio Armani.
