What do you do when you need a beautiful style and you don't quite feel like undoing yours yet? You find a smart way to add some chic to your old hairdo!
I had had a little stress because I didn't know what to do with my hair last minute before I went for the Kenya Fashion Awards last weekend. My hair was already three weeks old so it wasn't as appealing as it had been before. I had to think of a beautiful and fast hair-fix. Here's what I came up with :)
I'm sure you have all seen the YouTube videos from thousands of vloggers on creative ways to style your hair at home. Well, I used some of those to get inspiration and created this whole new style. Due to the number of requests I got during the Kenya Fashion Awards event and in my church, I decided to put up a post on how I achieved this look.
All I needed was:
- My daily spritz (that I made here)
- Bobby pins
- One Short Abuja Braid.
Short Abuja Braid #1 |
As you all know, I previously had a cornrow updo with box-braid ends falling to my back. This time, I started by spritzing my hair then plaiting its ends into two big and neat braids. I then took a rubber band (that automatically comes in the new short Abuja braid) and tied it at the centre of the new braid. After this, I tied the braid onto my hair to make a ponytail and twisted it into one huge braid. At this point, I have three huge braids; two box braids and one huge twisted one from the Abuja braid extension. (I hope you get the picture)
Once I did this, I took my bobby pins and started pinning the twisted Abuja braid. I first twisted it to the front and pinned it a couple of times ensuring that I had hidden the pins and the ends of the braid were absolutely secure. I then took one of the large box-braids and twisted it to the right side pinning it down and securing its end. I twisted the last box braid to the right once more, the back of my head and pinned the end to the centre of the bun ensuring that it is hidden well. (Just as the previous one) While twisting all these huge braids, ensure that you observe balance of the whole bun so that it is at the very centre of your head. I added a little red hair flower to add a little aesthetic to the whole hairstyle.
Here are the results of the Grecian bun:
The whole new updo was an amazing success and worked impeccably well with my outfit. I've had it for a week now and all I do is just spritz my hair and spray some Olive oil sheen to keep the whole hairdo looking fresh.
I hope you all love it as much as I did. Happy weekend to you all!!
